Lifeguard Re-Certification Course

Already have your lifeguard certification and just need to be re-certified?

The West Springfield Park & Recreation Department is offering a Lifeguard Re-Certification Course for Park & Recreation returning staff members. An abbreviated Lifeguarding course that briefly reviews course information and allows practice of skills and knowledge before testing. Current certification in Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid is required to participate in the review course. Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate which is valid for 2 years.

Portions of this course will also be taught online and must be completed by March 3rd!

Mandatory In-Person Dates:

Saturday, March 8, 2025 ~ Times: 2:30pm-8:30pm

AND

Sunday, March 9, 2025 ~ Times: 4:30pm-8:30pm

Location: Sady Pool, West Springfield Senior High School, 425 Piper Road

Fee: **$100.00 West Springfield Residents, **$150.00 Non-Residents

(**$50 WS Resident/Non-Resident Fee will be reimbursed if participant is employed as a lifeguard by the W.S. Park & Recreation Dept. for a minimum of 150 hours of Summer 2025)

Sign up early! Maximum number of participants is 20 for the course. Participants MUST be 15 years old by March 8, 2025.

Online: 

Online registration is the fastest way to register.

  • Click here to reach our Online Registration Site
  • Log in with your credentials. Contact the Park & Recreation Office (parkandrec@tows.org) in order to verify your username and password or to get help setting up an account.
  • Choose "Lifeguard Re-Cert/Cert", pick the activity you are interested in, add to cart, and check out. 
  • Continue to the payment screen. This will allow you to use a credit/debit card to pay for your programs.
  • Check your email! The Park & Recreation Office will email you your registration confirmation.
  • Approximately 2 weeks prior to the start of the course, our instructor will email you a link for the on-line portion of the course.

Another option for registration is bringing your paperwork and payment (cash/check ONLY) into the Town Hall. Visit the Park & Recreation Office Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00AM - 4:30PM. A staff member will assist you.  

  • Make checks payable to "Town of West Springfield" or pay in cash. (CASH/CHECK ONLY!)

  • Check your email! The Park & Recreation Office will email you your registration confirmation. Approximately 2 weeks prior to the start of the course, our instructor will email you a link for the on-line portion of the course.
